A master of language. A doctor of strangeness. The anarchist poet, Hunter S. Thompson would be 80 years old today.

The yahoo saint may be no more but his wisdom lives on in epic works on non-fiction, one extraordinary rush of a fiction novel (the Rum diaries/) and a number of articles written in his iconic mad Gonzo state of mind.

So let’s cheers to this mind of threaded insanities, the functional junkie.

A toast of Wild Turkey, a drive through “bat country” and the knowledge that…

Yesterday’s weirdness is tomorrow’s reason why.

  1. Ah, what a brilliant way to travel through F&L 😉 Haha, this is true. I’m awed by his ability to produce such mainstream pieces as the Rum Diaries, then go out and pioneer Gonzo Journalism. Such a treasure, that man.
